<br> Jesus called his disciples to leave their nets and boats and to follow him. In his gospel Matthew offers us an encounter with this same Jesus, the King. He presents the words and works of the Master in an easy-to-read, easy-to-learn form, around three great themes: 1. Jesus the Messiah, fulfilling Old Testament prophecies; 2. Israel and the church, exposing the hypocrisy of the Jewish religious leaders; 3. Jesus the King, "Son of David", yet dying for his people. Matthew's gospel is an ideal starting-point for discovering the truth about Jesus.
